Parts of Swaledale have been devastated by a cloudburst which flooded Grinton, Fremington, Reeth and

some surrounding areas at the end of July 2019.

Information is available here: All roads have been re-opened, businesses are open as usual Flood update meeting: St. Andrew’s Church, Grinton, Monday 9 th September at 7:30pm The Parish Council meeting will include an update on the flood and will be attended by the same representatives from all the public agencies who attended the first meeting on Tuesday, 6th August, namely North Yorkshire CC, Richmondshire DC, Yorkshire Water, the Environment Agency and Yorkshire Dales National Park. Minutes of Extraordinary Grinton & Ellerton Abbey PC meeting 4 th November 2019 Minutes of Emergency Grinton & Ellerton Abbey Parish Council meeting 6 th August 2019 with area authorities. Advice for property owners living next to/near watercourses: ‘Living on the Edge’ booklet, a government publication, but replaced with a web page https://www.gov.uk/guidance/owning-a-watercourse which has much less info, but NYCC recommend distributing the booklet.
