Advice for property owners living next to/near watercourses:
‘Living on the Edge’ booklet, a government publication, but replaced with a web page
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/owning-a-watercourse which has much less info, but NYCC recommend distributing the booklet.
There is a link to an online PDF 2014 version here https://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/media/8360/riparian-ownership.pdf
•
Flood risk reduction:
NYCC recommended this charity, National Flood Forum, which has useful formation on flood gates, flood doors and how
to protect your property from future flooding, and may have funding https://nationalfloodforum.org.uk
•
Resilience measures:
NYCC can also suggest resilience measures for property owners (costs and responsibility for installation lie with the
property owners, however NYCC can help with obtaining eg listed buildings permission) https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/flood-
